staying ahead of the competition

As an entrepreneur, you’re going to experience slow seasons. Other times, business is going to be so busy you can’t keep up. No matter the season, it is always important to stay ahead of your competition. Here are some things to consider.

Who is your competition?

Especially when things aren’t going so well, you’re going to want to know who is in your field of work and how they are staying afloat. What’s their angle? How are they keeping the interest of your shared customers? By keeping informed, you’re going to help set your own business apart from theirs, and evaluate the areas where improvement is needed.

Who is your customer?

When sales go down, there may be a change in customer interest. Continue to explore what they are into. Are they going with the latest trends? Are they looking to save money? Has your audience changed completely? Whatever the wave is, jump on it and adjust your marketing to keep the attention of those consumers.

How can you be different?

You definitely have to prove to your customers that YOU are better than your competition. Why should they go to you and not them? Be forward with your marketing. Be intentional with your audience. It has to be obvious what makes you the best!

How should you market?

It is always important to be in the public eye. The longer you are quiet on social media, the bigger the chances are for your business to be forgotten. Always put out content, and be relevant to your consumer.

When should you check in?

The answer is always! Never let too much time pass before you’re reaching out to your current customer base. Send out a weekly newsletter with the latest deals, coupons or special events happening in your world. Be prompt when a customer reaches out or interacts with your business on social media. Focus on amazing customer service when answering products and services questions. Showing interest and kindness always goes a long way.

When should you plan for future endeavors?

Now! If you don’t prepare in advance for growth, you will always remain stagnant. Constantly think about your next steps in your business so when it comes, you’re ready. It may be slow at the moment, but seasons only last but for so long!
